Science Immersion Task Week 1.
Unit one in Science focusses on the elements and sustainability of an ecosystem and how energy flows around the system. It investigates the cause and effect if there is an imbalance in the system, such as the introduction of a new species or removal of an essential element. Students will model an ecosystem by building a terrarium and watching the plants STRIVE and FLOURISH.
Task 1
The first activity for you to complete is the representation of an ecosystems Food Chain. Below are 4 stories about animals and plants interacting and you are required to DRAW a REPRESENTATION of the food chain that these organisms follow and using arrows indicate the direction of ENERGY FLOW through the system. Animals use food for energy so if an animal eats something it absorbs the energy which will flow TOWARDS the animal and AWAY from the food.
Task 2
Place the following animals into a Food Web on an A3 page using arrows to show the energy flow of food.
This task will be one part of your STAGE 1 for science.

If there are any words you do not know, research their meaning ( sometimes an image will help explain a meaning) and create a glossary of words on the back of your Food Chain Poster.
Use an A4 sheet and spread out the animals and arrows. You may use an App like Poppet if you wish.
